Béchamel Sauce

What is a béchamel sauce?

Béchamel sauce is a white sauce made from a white roux and milk. It is one of the mother sauces. This was originated in Tuscany, Italy and was known as salsa colla or colleta (glue sauce) because of the gluey consistency.
